The choice of coral is no coincidence considering that in Corsica, tradition gives coral the power to ward off the evil eye cast by an envious person. This evil eye particularly pursues people that we congratulate. Babies being most vulnerable, the custom is to protect them with a hand or horn in red coral.

As coral is mineral, vegetable and animal and in mythology red coral (oxblood red) is considered to be the blood of Medusa’s decapitated head. Medusa having the ability to petrify, red coral was awarded the capacity to coagulate blood.
Hybrid, rare and mysterious, coral has always fascinated, it is part of a highly fragile ecosystem. Only some professional divers are authorised to extract coral from the Corsican seabed.
